The count von Zeppelin creates the company of construction of aircraft, LZ (Luftschiffbau Zeppelin), which produced hundred and nineteen of these until 1938. He founds also the first commercial airline company in the world, called DELAG (Deutsche Luftschiffahrts-AG). The two companies are based in Friedrichshafen.
 
The Zeppelin NT-07 (NT = Neuer Technologie) is an airship type first manufactured the 1990s by Zeppelin Luftschifftechnik GmbH (ZLT) in Friedrichshafen.

ZLG was founded as a joint venture of Zeppelin, which today distributes Caterpillar heavy construction equipment, and ZF, which manufactures transmissions.

Founded in September 1993, the object of this company comprises the development, manufacturing and marketing of Zeppelins of New Technology. The first prototype was constructed in 1995.

Since 15 August 2001 Deutsche Zeppelin Reederei (DZR), founded as a subsidiary company of ZLG, has successfully offered joyrides with Zeppelin NT-07 airships. The hull surfaces are marketed as advertising space.

   
   
In 2001 the company began manufacturing the Zeppelin NT-07 in series.

On 2 March 2004 ZLG sold SN-02 to the Japanese Nippon Airship Corporation. The company intends to use her mainly for joyrides and advertising.

In August 2005 a new Zeppelin NT was shipped to South Africa for its new 2 year assignment with De Beers.

June 26, 2008 the fourth Zeppelin NT Airships has received FAA Authorization (Federal Aviation Administration),
